Welcome to room #110!  My name is Larry Tifft and I am glad to have your child in my class.  I grew  up in a small town in Iowa called Nora Springs, which is about ten miles east of Mason City.  In 1989, I graduated from the U of M with a degree in Speech Communications.  After working for several years, I decided to  become a teacher and attended weekend college at the College of St. Catherine.  I graduated from there in 1996. I have been teaching first grade at Northrop since February 1998.  Some of my hobbies include travelling, comic book collecting, flipping through vinyl albums at record stores, and going to live music.  I currently live near the Riverview theater with my partner, John.

First grade is a very exciting grade. Students really start

to take off in their reading, writing, and math skills. We also work with science kits like organisms and electricity.

First graders will learn about family diversity. We will discuss how families are the same and different.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at Larry.Tifft@mpls.k12.mn.us or call me at school 612-668-4520.
