BIO
I began my teaching experience in Washington, D.C. in 1987 where I spent 10 years there with 2nd graders. I received my BA from the College of St. Teresa’s in Winona with specialty areas in Psychology and Speech and Language Pathology. I almost finished my master’s degree at George Washington University in D.C. but was blessed with two children (who attended Minneapolis public schools). My daughter is beginning a photography career and attending the UofM, and my son is attending law school after working in Washington D.C.. I am now working on my master's degree which is geared toward 21st Century learning and digital tools. I began job sharing in 1st, 6th and 4th grade at Northrop when I moved back to Minnesota in 1997. In 2010, I began full time teaching as the new STEM teacher, because I love to teach Science and problem solving. I hope to pass this passion on to your children. I became interested in teaching science when I noticed that the children in our nation’s capitol were not able to get outside the way we can here in Minnesota. I wanted these students to have the same opportunity, so I started the first Outdoor Classroom in a National Park in Washington, D.C. where it still exists today. I also helped to open the National Orkin Insect Zoo in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. I see the budding scientist in all students!!!
