Hello, Northrop Community!

My name is Kelly Morrell and I am serving as PTA President for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years. I have two daughters attending Northrop; Molly is in second grade and Caitlin started kindergarten this year (2020). It’s been a joy to experience Northrop alongside our children for the past few years and get sneak previews of the wonderful experiences awaiting them in third, fourth, and fifth grade. 

Our family lives in the Ericsson neighborhood and we enjoy taking advantage of all South Minneapolis has to offer, including cross country skiing at Hiawatha Golf Course, splashing around in Minnehaha Creek, and eating far too many donuts from A Baker’s Wife. My day job is with Metro Transit; a healthy number of my nights and weekends are spent chauffeuring girls to and from Irish dance lessons.

As PTA President, my top priority is to navigate the uncertainty of COVID-19 while maintaining the organization’s commitment to support families and staff. It’s going to look different this year, but with the excellent work done by the previous leadership and the fresh perspective of a new slate of officers, I am confident we can weather this storm together.
